Hatha Yoga Classes

DEVANAND HATHA YOGA is a discipline designed to obtain the highest training through psycho-physical exercises, breathing, concentration, visualization, relaxation, asanas (postures), and a balanced diet. This discipline has a direct positive effect on the functioning of the cardiopulmonary and cardiovascular systems, muscle strength, resistance, flexibility, ability, and physical composition. It helps to detoxify and purify the whole system.

The Devanand Hatha Yoga Program was designed by the Great Sage Yogi Swami Guru Devanand Saraswati Ji Maharaj, and its main purpose is to give the individual the opportunity to obtain and maintain a healthy mind and body. It is considered as one of the best physical training to aid in the treatment of asthma, bronchitis, tuberculosis, diabetes, obesity, headaches, as well as other symptoms and diseases. This program is also a useful method to treat AIDS by improving the functioning of the immunologic system helping to fight infectious diseases.

The practice of Hatha Yoga is becoming very popular nowadays. It is important to understand that Hatha Yoga should be practiced under the direct supervision of a certified instructor. To practice advanced postures (asanas) without being prepared might affect the functioning of the nervous system resulting in physical and mental traumas.


By practicing the Devanand Hatha Yoga Program under supervision, the individual might obtain the following benefits:

The Devanand Hatha Yoga program and the Continuing Educational Physical Training Department of the USA Devanand Yoga Cultural Center, Inc., has established a system to help the individual obtain a better physical-mental health. Our certified Instructors are willing to help throughout the whole program.

Devanand Hatha Yoga has 3 levels:

I. Psychophysical Exercises (Pre-Asanas) (6 months to 1 year)
Basic concentration, relaxation, physical-mental, balance, and breathing techniques. This level consists of 14 basic exercises. The student will learn the sequence, benefits, and how to obtain an optimum health by practicing the exercises. (The students need to follow the instructions of the Hatha Yoga Professor at all levels).

II. Basic and Intermediate Asanas (2 year minimum)
The student acquires a higher level of physical-mental balance and control, a higher degree of flexibility, resistance, breathing capacity, relaxation and discipline. This level has 50 asanas that help to detoxify and purify the nadis (energy channels) and the blood helping to regulate the functioning of the endocrine glands. For this second level, it is necessary to follow a balanced and natural diet, breathing control, mental training through Mantra Yoga Meditation, and master the first level.

III. Advanced Asanas (3 to 5 years)
Physical and mental advanced control. It increases flexibility, resistance, breathing capacity, relaxation and physical cleansing. This level has 84 asanas considered as the most important by the Great Master Swami Guru Devanand. If the instructions are faithfully followed, the student will achieve peace, love, and harmony obtaining a happiness state.

An Introductory Class and Admission Test is pre-requisites to begin the Devanand Hatha Yoga Program. Our classes are free with an annual registration fee of $150.00. Please contact us for more information.
